Founded by Paul Barth and Pia Watermeyer, Kunjani Wines is the story of a cross-continental love affair with wine, design, and hospitality.
The Story of a Cross-Continental Wine, A Dream That Took Root. Paul Barth grew up in Germany’s Rheingau region, surrounded by Riesling vineyards, but his dream was to own a winery in South Africa, his second home. Pia Watermeyer, a successful South African businesswoman, shared this love for wine and hospitality.
A Love Story That Became a Winery, Paul and Pia met at a mutual friend’s wedding, where an instant connection formed – despite Paul’s limited English. Paul’s persistence and Pia’s infectious energy led them on a journey to find the perfect vineyard to call home. After searching, Pia knew Kunjani was the right fit; Paul needed a little more persuading. A walk through the vineyards sealed the decision—Kunjani Wines was born.
